Louisiana Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)

Energy costs significantly influence the affordability of housing for everyone, often impacting the basic subsistence requirements of a household. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides eligible households with assistance in meeting their monthly utility bills. Priority is given those who may be elderly, disabled, have families with children, and/or have the highest energy consumption.

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Louisiana, you must need financial assistance for home energy costs and your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $18,768 if one person lives in the household; $24,540 if two people live in the household; $30,324 if three people live in the household; $36,096 if four people live in the household; $41,808 if five people live in the household; $47,652 if six people live in the household; $48,732 if seven people live in the household; $49,812 if eight people live in the household; and $50,892 if more than eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $1,092 for each additional person in the home.
